🌿 A Legacy of Strength 🌿
My great-grandmother, Christina Levant Platt, lived 101 remarkable years—each one a testament to resilience and faith. Born into slavery, she began her childhood carrying buckets of water across cotton fields, her small frame bent under heavy loads. Yet even in the shadows of oppression, she found light: secretly learning to read and write, knowing that knowledge was both a rebellion and a key to freedom. 📖✨
Though she endured unspeakable cruelty, Christina refused to let bitterness take root. Instead, she chose courage, prayer, and unshakable determination. She married, built a home, and raised 11 children, filling their lives with discipline, love, and hope. Education became her sacred legacy—she taught her children that books could open doors chains never could. Four of her sons went on to college in Boston, and one of them broke barriers as one of the first Black attorneys in America. ⚖️🌟
Later, Christina boldly led her family north, becoming part of the first Black family to settle in Medfield, Massachusetts. In every choice she made, she planted seeds of progress that would grow for generations. 🌱🏡
She often told her family: “I put prayers on my children’s children’s heads.” 🙏 Those prayers, whispered under candlelight and carried through the decades, still guide us. To us, Christina is not just an ancestor—she is our root, our protector, our living reminder that strength can be born from struggle, and hope can bloom even in the harshest soil. 🌸💪
Her life is our inheritance. Her faith is our shield. And her courage is the reason we continue to walk forward with heads held high. ✨🕊️
